Solution Integrated with SAP POS to Deliver
Next-Generation Mobile Point-of-Sale Benefits to the Retail Industry
ATLANTA—Aug. 7, 2012—Agilysys, Inc. (Nasdaq: AGYS), a leading developer and marketer of proprietary enterprise software, services and solutions to the hospitality and retail industries, today announced the formal availability of NextPosition 3S, a next-generation mobile point-of-sale (MPOS) software system specifically designed to work with the SAP® Point-of-Sale (SAP POS) application 2.3 This innovative software extends and expands the Agilysys NextPosition MPOS functionality through integration with SAP POS via a modern, mobile user interface for the store associates.
As an SAP partner, Agilysys worked closely with SAP to develop a feature-rich solution that integrates with the SAP POS and related applications for retail stores and enterprise systems without requiring additional middleware. The integration with SAP POS, leveraging the SAP Afaria® mobile device and application management solution, allows Agilysys to deliver the full functionality of a retailer’s POS system to a mobile device. NextPosition 3S is available on iOS and Android mobile devices. It allows retailers to extend their fixed POS and deliver a true point-of-service experience to customers. In addition, retailers can take advantage of the mobile hardware with additional applications from Agilysys and SAP.
Aaron Hagler, Agilysys vice president, Solutions Delivery—Retail Solutions Group, commented: “Putting mobile technology into the hands of sales associates is radically changing the shopping dynamic and guest experience. For shoppers, the benefits of store associates armed with mobile devices include on-demand service and a faster check-out process, which in turn improves store efficiency and sales per associate. For specialty retailers, harnessing chic technology has proven not only to support their brand images, but also enhance sales, store profitability and customer service.”
Michael Schulze, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Retail, SAP, said: “SAP POS 2.3 provides retailers with a state-of-the-art, configurable and easy-to-use POS system that is fully functional and eliminates the need for a customary middleware interface—therefore reducing cost of implementation. The integration of Agilysys’ NextPosition 3S with SAP POS provides customers a strong platform for both mobile and retail solutions.”
Agilysys also provides overall systems integration and project management, comprising software development and testing, hardware sourcing, staging, integration and depot maintenance services. The solution includes the ability to utilize remote cash drawers and wireless receipt printers.
“The value of Agilysys’ heritage and perspective in these solution technologies is rooted in its ability to observe, analyze and advise, as well as decades of hands-on experience in designing, implementing and supporting mobile, POS, loyalty and store systems,” Hagler concluded. “Our deeply experienced and skilled Mobility and POS team is unparalleled in the industry.”
