Landmark Hotel Implements MMS 3.0 with Enhanced Features and Functionality
BOCA RATON, Fla. — Feb. 11, 2008 — Agilysys, Inc. (Nasdaq: AGYS), a leading provider of innovative information technology and hospitality software solutions, announced today that the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, Calif. has implemented the latest version of the Materials Management System (MMS) inventory procurement solution with enhanced features and functionality that will enable the 679-room landmark property to increase efficiency and streamline operations.
Recognized as the hospitality industry’s leading inventory and procurement system, the MMS solution automates the entire procurement process — from food and beverage to general property materials — and provides a fast and measurable return on investment by reducing labor costs and waste and eliminating time-consuming and error-prone paper documents. With MMS, tasks that once took hours or days can be completed with the click of a mouse, enabling buyers to focus on the strategic elements of the purchasing process.
“We have used the MMS solution by Agilysys for years and were eager to take advantage of the latest technology,” said Kevin Wetter, director of purchasing at Hotel del Coronado. “We are particularly impressed with the system’s new automated e-mail bid feature, which expands the pool of qualified vendors from whom we can obtain bids and, as a result, reduces our overall costs.”
In addition to the automated e-mail bid capability, features of MMS 3.0 include: point-and-click functionality; the ability to route purchase requisitions for approval via e-mail or personal digital assistant (PDA); enhanced browser capabilities; and multiple par level functionality that enables the property to establish inventory levels based on seasons, days of the week or special events.
“The latest version of the Materials Management System will provide Hotel del Coronado with the technology it needs to stay competitive and ensure the property obtains the most favorable prices on everything from linens to food and beverage,” said Tina Stehle, senior vice president and general manager at Agilysys Hospitality Solutions. “The enhanced MMS version 3.0 will improve financial controls, reduce costs and streamline the hotel’s entire inventory and procurement process.”
Built in 1888, the Hotel del Coronado is an elegant example of Victorian architecture and is considered one of America’s most beautiful resorts. The property recently unveiled several exciting enhancements, including a state-of-the-art spa with 21 treatment rooms and an expansive private terrace; a fitness center offering personal training and a studio for aerobics, Pilates and spin classes; and a new signature restaurant, 1500 OCEAN, featuring Southland coastal cuisine and an outdoor sunset bar. The new oceanfront cottages and villas at Beach Village offer a private luxury enclave within the resort’s legendary setting. Hotel del Coronado is managed by KSL Resorts in La Quinta, Calif.
