Microsoft Support for SQL Server 2008 and Windows 2008 is Coming to a Close

Aug 06, 2018

Microsoft has announced that it will end extended support for its SQL Server 2008 and Windows 2008 products, and will no longer release security updates for these products after the end dates:

  • Extended Support for SQL Server 2008 ends July 9, 2019
  • Extended Support for Windows 2008 ends January 14, 2020

What Does This Mean for Agilysys InfoGenesis Customers?

Once support for these products has ended, users may become vulnerable to cyber attacks, and based upon their specific system configuration, they may need to update their systems to maintain PCI Compliance.

To help protect against the potential for data loss, Agilysys customers using InfoGenesis POS prior to release 4.5 are strongly encouraged to upgrade to version 4.5 (or later) prior to the Microsoft deadlines. InfoGenesis version 4.5 supports SQL Server 2016, as well as both Windows 2012 and Windows 2016.

Version 4.5 not only supports newer versions of these Microsoft products, but also offers a broad set of new features and capabilities, allowing users to improve the guest experience, lower operating costs and drive increased revenue.

Additional InfoGenesis 4.5 Capabilities:

  • New User Interface
  • Centralized Configuration Management
  • Enhanced Mobility
  • Support for New Payment Gateways
  • Improved Security
